Malaysia is a diverse country that is something of a melting pot of cultures – you can be sure of experiencing something new and exciting at every corner as a result.

The nation is a particularly popular destination for this reason, attracting holidaymakers at all times of the year.

With the Petronas Malaysian Grand Prix coming up next month, now may be the ideal time to begin planning a spring holiday to the country.

Taking place at the 5.542 km Sepang Circuit in Selangor, the event is sure to be an exciting one as the world’s best Formula One drivers take to the track in a bid to gain pole position.

Visiting Malaysia for the race will also mean that holidaymakers have the opportunity to explore the many attractions situated within Selangor and beyond.

Some of the top sights in the state include the national zoo and Selangor Tropical Fruits Garden.

Travellers should also take the time to see the Blue Mosque, which harbours the world’s tallest minarets, along with the popular Batu Caves.

Carey Island, the Royal Gallery and the High 5 Bread Town Museum – which has the unique distinction of being Malaysia’s first bread museum – are also fantastic places to visit.

Of course, there’s much more to see and do outside of Selangor, so if you get the chance to spend a few days in another part of the country, it is certainly worth taking it.

Kuala Lumpur and its fusion of old and new architecture and many different cultures is truly a spectacle to behold and could be the ideal city break destination.

For those interested in architecture, the Sultan Abu Bakar Mosque in Johor and St Paul’s Hill in Melaka – which is home to the remains of a Portuguese fort and St Paul’s Church – are just two of the places you could visit to make the most of your Malaysia holiday.

All in all, a trip to Malaysia to witness the Grand Prix could well become the holiday of a lifetime for those lucky enough to be able to travel around the country and experience its unique culture.
